EXODUS: THROUGH THE BALKANS
September, 2015

An unprecedented massive influx of refugees fleeing mainly from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, in September 2015 reached the Hungarian border coming from nearby Serbia, continuing their journey to reach European Countries, in most case Germany.

As European leaders waited to come up with a solution, hundreds of migrants remained stranded on Serbia’s border with Hungary, after Hungary’s decision to seal its borders with a fence to prevent more refugees from entering the country.

When reaching the Hungarian border, those who decide to cross are then transported via train to Austria.

Some others, afraid of being caught, identified and sent back choose to enter the hungarian territory by walking in the fields where they are then met by local men, that in exchange of money offer to transport them by car to either Budapest or any other place within Hungary.
