NEWS FEEDS FROM SOCIAL MEDIA WHILE ON THE FIELD
Beirut, June, 2021 • Relatives of the people who died during the blast at the Port of Beirut on 4 August 2020, gather in the port area to commemorate the ten months that have passed since the day of the disaster that killed 211 people and injured more than 6,000.
•
Nearly 3,000 tons of ammonium nitrate — a highly explosive material used in fertilizers — had been improperly stored in the port for years.
•
10 months after the blast, it is still not known what triggered an initial fire at the warehouse that then caused the explosion or who was responsible for storing the rotting fertilizer at the port warehouse for years.

Su @espressosettimanale il reportage realizzato con @medicisenzafrontiere a #ventimiglia e #oulx , per illustrare il racconto del flusso di persone che transitano in Italia e cercano di attraversare la frontiera con la Francia.

Another dream is broken. Ventimiglia border with France. An invisible border blocks the routes of migrants trying to reach Greater Europe. Totally abandoned by local and international institutions, they find themselves in conditions at the limit of living in infinite waiting. “A Purgatory to forget” as Matteo Macor tells us accompanied by the photos by @francesca_volpi_photo for @medicisenzafrontiere who for some time together with other humanitarian organizations have been trying to denounce this long hell.

One year since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy.
A member of the civil protection places a rose on a coffin containing the body of a person who died from Covid-19. During the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic in Italy, the city of Bergamo was among the hardest hit. The death toll was so high that there was no more space in the morgues, and the funeral services could not keep up. So, the municipal administration of Ponte San Pietro in the province of Bergamo had set up a temporary deposit for the coffins waiting to be transported by military army trucks to crematoriums in various surrounding regions. None of the relatives had access to the deposit, and many did not even know that their loved ones were there. The deposit was managed by volunteer citizens of Bergamo and Ponte San Pietro.
