One year since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. A member of the civil protection places a rose on a coffin containing the body of a person who died from Covid-19. During the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic in Italy, the city of Bergamo was among the hardest hit. The death toll was so high that there was no more space in the morgues, and the funeral services could not keep up. So, the municipal administration of Ponte San Pietro in the province of Bergamo had set up a temporary deposit for the coffins waiting to be transported by military army trucks to crematoriums in various surrounding regions. None of the relatives had access to the deposit, and many did not even know that their loved ones were there.
